Build a nature sound mix that stays in the background
A practical walkthrough of individual sound levels, master volume, playlists, and saving a mix in Pure Soundscapes.
Start with one continuous sound
Open Playlists and choose one sound from the sound grid. Rain, Stream, Wind, and Waves are useful starting points because they provide a continuous background. Start at a low listening level. A soundscape is easier to adjust when you can still hear your room and notice whether the sound itself is becoming distracting.
Each selected sound shows its own volume slider. That slider changes one layer. The speaker control beside play/pause changes the overall volume without changing the balance between layers. If your mix already feels balanced but is too loud, use the speaker control rather than lowering every individual slider.
Add layers with different roles
Add a second sound at a lower level than your first. For a forest background, try Rain at 40%, Stream at 20%, and Forest at 15%. These are starting points rather than recommended listening volumes: your device volume and headphones also affect loudness. A stream adds movement while the forest layer adds detail. If an intermittent sound keeps catching your attention, reduce it or remove it.
Birds, Thunder, and Campfire have more noticeable events than a continuous rain layer. Treat them as accents. Listen through a few events before deciding how loud they should be. Adding every available sound rarely makes a mix more useful; two or three layers give you a clearer idea of what each sound contributes.
Compare a preset with your own balance
The playlist cards offer starting combinations for activities such as Productivity, Relax, and Sleep. Select a card to apply its combination, then change the individual levels in the sound grid. The Next button changes to another combination in that category. It replaces the current selection, so save your current mix first if you want to keep it.
Pause stops playback while keeping your selected sounds and levels. Resume continues that selection. Clear removes the selection and resets the individual levels. Use Pause when you want to take a short break; use Clear when you want to build something different.
Save a mix and understand where it lives
Once you like the balance, choose Save, give the combination a name, and finish saving it in the Saved tab. A descriptive name such as “Rain with a quiet stream” is easier to recognize later than a generic number. Saved combinations store the selected sounds and their levels in this browser.
Your saved library does not sync to an account or another device. Private browsing, clearing website data, or switching browsers can remove or hide that library. If a mix matters to you, keep a note of its sound names and levels so you can recreate it. Saving a mix does not download the audio for offline playback.
