Pure Soundscapes guides
When your favourite sound starts to annoy you
Sometimes yesterday’s perfect mix feels busy today. Here’s how to change it without endlessly chasing new settings.
Don’t argue with your own preference
A bird call you enjoyed yesterday might be the thing that keeps interrupting you today. Pause the mix before deciding what to change. The room, your activity, or simply what you feel like hearing may be different. A saved favourite isn’t a contract.
Listen to the room for a minute. You might find that silence is what you wanted. If you still want a background, bring back the simplest layer from the mix rather than starting a search through every playlist.
Remove before you replace
If one sound is bothering you, turn that layer off first. Compare the remaining mix during the same activity. This makes it easier to tell whether the problem was a specific detail, the overall loudness, or just too many things playing at once.
Only then try a replacement. Swap Birds for a little Wind, for example, or keep Rain by itself. Avoid making three changes at the same time. Otherwise you can end up with a completely new mix and no idea which part was worth keeping.
Give favourites a little room to change
You can keep the original saved combination and make a simpler version for another day. Use names that explain the difference, such as “Forest with birds” and “Forest only.” That’s more practical than repeatedly overwriting the version you once liked.
If neither fits, leave the audio paused. Return when you actually want to listen. A soundscape is an optional background, so switching it off is a complete decision, not an unfinished attempt to find the right mix.
