Pure Soundscapes guides

Choose a nature mix for reading, writing, or a screen break

Use a simple listening experiment to find a background that fits your activity, without assuming one sound works for everyone.

Start with the activity, not a promised result

Choose something specific to do while comparing sounds: read two pages, draft a short message, or take a few minutes away from your work. This makes it easier to judge a background than listening while you are focused entirely on the controls.

Nature sounds do not need to produce a particular outcome to be worth using. Your preference can change with the room and the day. Treat a mix as an optional part of the environment, and try silence as a comparison rather than assuming continuous playback is always the better choice.

For reading, check what draws your attention

Try a single layer such as Rain or Stream while reading a familiar amount of text. Notice whether you keep returning your attention to the sound. If you do, lower it or choose another layer before adding anything else.

Then compare a more detailed mix, perhaps with quiet Birds. You may enjoy those moments, or you may find that they interrupt the reading. Neither result is a rule for everyone. Use your experience during the activity to choose between the simpler and more detailed version.

For writing, avoid changing the mix constantly

Choose your starting sound and leave it in place while drafting a paragraph. Repeatedly adjusting the sliders can become another way to interrupt the task. Make a change when you have a specific reason, such as one layer being too prominent.

If the balance is comfortable but the overall level is too high, use the central speaker control. Save a main-mixer combination that you return to, with a name describing the sounds rather than promising a result. A label such as “Rain and stream” is useful even when you use it for different activities.

For a break, give the view and sound a clear ending

A Gallery scene offers a different way to spend the session: choose the picture, select its available sound layers, and press Start. Try the still image and Slow zoom separately to decide which you prefer. Fullscreen is available when you want the scene to fill your display.

When the break ends, close the immersive view to clear its sounds. In the main mixer, Pause keeps your selection and Clear removes it. If you use the sleep timer, check the selected duration and remember that browser or device suspension can affect playback. Keep the choice practical rather than relying on the soundscape to manage your schedule.
