Pure Soundscapes guides
An evening soundscape with less looking at the screen
Set the background once, choose whether you actually want a picture, and stop turning a quiet evening into more browsing.
Decide whether the picture helps
A nature scene can be lovely in the evening, but you might already have looked at displays all day. Before opening Gallery, decide whether you want to see a picture or just hear a quiet background. Both are available; you don’t need to use the more immersive view every time.
For audio alone, start with one main-mixer layer and set the volume before putting the device aside. If you want the image, try a still Gallery scene first. Use Slow zoom only if you enjoy the movement, rather than leaving it on out of habit.
Set the stopping point while the controls are open
If you want playback to stop after a period, use the main mixer’s sleep timer and check the selected duration. Its expiry pauses audio. Device suspension or browser behaviour can still affect playback, so don’t treat it as a guarantee that audio will run uninterrupted in the background.
The Gallery control bar doesn’t display timer controls. Set or check a timer in the main mixer before entering a scene if you want to use it there. Closing the immersive scene clears the sounds and cancels the timer.
Leave the mix alone for a while
Once the balance is comfortable, turn back to your book, conversation, or whatever you chose for the evening. If you keep checking the screen to improve it, try fewer layers. The simpler version may be easier to live with.
Pause when you no longer want the background. A quiet evening doesn’t have to finish with audio playing. If you enjoyed the main-mixer combination, save it for another visit and let tonight’s setup be done.
