Pure Soundscapes guides
A quieter end to the workday
Close the work tabs, pick one nature sound, and give the evening a different background without making a big project of it.
Finish one thing before starting another
It’s easy to shut the laptop lid and immediately open work messages on your phone. If you want a different ending, jot down the next thing you need to do tomorrow first. Then close the work tabs and choose a background for the next few minutes rather than the next task.
Try Waves, Rain, or Campfire on its own. Pick whichever feels appealing today. You don’t need a sound advertised for a particular mood, and you don’t have to feel different as soon as it starts. It can simply mark a change in what you are doing.
Give your hands something ordinary to do
Put away a few things on the desk, make a snack, or change into something comfortable. Let the sound accompany that small transition. Keeping your hands busy can also stop the mixer becoming another screen you spend the evening adjusting.
If you want a scene, set up a Gallery image before pressing Start. Try the still view first. A fullscreen picture can be nice across the room, but you can also close the screen and stick with the main mixer if another display is the last thing you want.
Don’t keep it playing out of habit
After a while, ask whether you still want the background. If a conversation, a meal, or a programme has started, pause it. The sound was there for that gap after work; it doesn’t need to follow you through every part of the evening.
Closing an immersive Gallery scene clears its sounds. In the main mixer, Pause holds the selection and Clear removes it. Choose whichever fits what you’re doing next, and leave the controls alone once you’ve finished.
