Everyday listening

Nature audio between calls, rather than during them

A little background for the gaps in a call-heavy day, with a clear pause when the next conversation begins.

Give the gap its own sound

After a call ends, you might have a few minutes to write a note or put a glass in the kitchen. Try quiet Stream or Wind during that gap if you want a change from voices. Set the level once and leave the mixer alone while you do the small job.

You don’t need to turn the gap into a special session. It can be background for writing down what was agreed, stretching your legs, or doing nothing for a moment before the next meeting.

Pause before the next conversation

When the next call starts, pause the audio rather than balancing it against the voices. You may still want sound between meetings, but that doesn’t mean it belongs underneath a conversation you need to hear.

Using Pause keeps your main-mixer selection ready for later. Clear is there if you want to start again with different sounds. Keeping those choices simple makes the background easier to use in short gaps without rebuilding it every time.

Don’t make the controls another open job

If your day has lots of interruptions, choose a familiar one-layer mix. A detailed combination that needs adjusting whenever you resume may be more setup than the gaps are worth. You can try the interesting versions when listening is part of the break.

At the end of the call-heavy stretch, check whether you still want the audio. It’s easy to leave a background running because it was helpful earlier. Pause when the job changes, and return when you actually want to hear it again.
