Everyday listening

Sorting old photos with a quiet Campfire

A small soundtrack for the folder you’ve been meaning to tidy, without making the sorting more complicated.

Choose a folder, not the whole collection

Open one trip, one year, or the handful of pictures you want to send someone. Then try Campfire quietly while you look through them. Picking a manageable group helps keep the job small; the sound is simply something to hear while you do it.

You don’t need the mix to match where the photos were taken. A campfire layer can accompany city pictures or an ordinary family afternoon. Let the images keep their own setting instead of trying to create a soundtrack for each one.

Leave room to look and remember

If the recording’s details keep pulling you away from the pictures, lower it or try Rain. You may prefer a sound you can mostly ignore while choosing favourites. Or you might enjoy pausing the sorting for a moment to look at a photo and listen.

Keep the background simple while making decisions about files. Adding more layers every time you find another memory turns the mix into a second collection to organize. Choose one or two sounds, then return to the pictures.

Finish with something usable

An album with a few favourites, a folder with clearer names, or the photos you promised to send can be enough. You don’t have to tidy the entire archive before stopping. Pause the audio when you close the folder.

Save the main-mixer combination if you enjoyed it beyond this one job. If not, let it remain the sound you happened to use that afternoon. The useful thing you take away might be the selected pictures rather than a new favourite mix.
