Pure Soundscapes guides
Use Thunder as an accent in a rain mix
Balance noticeable thunder moments against a rain background, and decide when a changing soundscape suits your activity.
Start with the sound you want underneath
Choose Rain first and find a quiet, comfortable listening level. Let it play while you begin your activity. This gives you a clear reference before you add Thunder: you can tell whether the extra layer improves the atmosphere or simply makes it busier.
Keep your device volume steady while changing individual sound levels. Otherwise, lowering the entire output and raising Thunder can make it difficult to understand which change helped. The overall speaker control is useful after the balance between layers feels right.
Judge more than the first thunder moment
Bring Thunder in at a low level and listen through several noticeable moments. Avoid turning it up just because a quiet interval makes you think it is missing. Your decision should include both the quieter spaces and the events that draw attention.
If a thunder moment pulls you away from your task, lower that layer and compare again. You may enjoy a storm atmosphere while looking at a scene but prefer Rain alone while reading. Keep separate versions rather than trying to make one mix suit every use.
Keep the rest of the selection simple
Before adding Forest, Stream, or another sound, turn Thunder off briefly. Compare Rain alone with Rain plus Thunder. If the extra layer already gives you the atmosphere you wanted, there may be no reason to expand the mix.
When you do add a third layer, give it a supporting role. Change one slider at a time and listen after each adjustment. If you lose track of what is making the mix pleasant, remove the newest layer and return to the simpler version.
Make stopping as easy as starting
Use Pause when you want silence without rebuilding the main mixer selection later. Use Clear when you are finished with that selection. If you set a sleep timer, check its remaining time before leaving the controls; its expiry pauses playback rather than deleting the mix.
For a Gallery scene that offers Rain and Thunder, select the layers before pressing Start. Keep the controls within reach while you decide on the balance. Save any main-mixer version you want to revisit with a name such as “Quiet rain with thunder,” and remember that saved settings stay in this browser.
