Pure Soundscapes guides

Create an open, simple soundscape with Wind

Try Wind as a standalone background, compare it with water and birds, and keep the number of layers manageable.

Listen before assigning a landscape

Wind can be a starting point even when you do not have a particular outdoor scene in mind. Open the mixer, choose Wind alone, and listen at a low level. Notice whether you want to pay attention to its texture or let it accompany something else.

Try it in the room where you plan to use it. Everyday sounds around you affect the experience, and a background that seemed right during setup may feel different once you return to your activity. You do not need to cover every room sound for the mix to be useful to you.

Add one layer with a specific purpose

For a water-based atmosphere, bring in Waves or Stream quietly. Choose one first and compare the combination with Wind alone. If the water sound becomes the main thing you notice, either reduce it or accept that you prefer a water-led mix with Wind underneath.

For a more detailed outdoor atmosphere, try Birds instead. Listen through several calls before settling on its volume. Removing Birds is a reasonable choice when the individual moments keep interrupting your attention. An open atmosphere can be built from one continuous layer rather than many details.

Separate overall loudness from the balance

If the combination feels right but the entire output is too loud, use the speaker control beside play/pause. If Wind is hiding another sound you want to hear, adjust the Wind slider. These changes answer different questions, so avoid moving every control at once.

Small adjustments are easier to compare than repeated large changes. After moving one slider, return to your activity briefly. If you still want to change it, make another adjustment. This gives you a better reference than watching the slider while listening only for the change.

Keep a version for another visit

Save a main-mixer combination once it works during a real session. A name such as “Wind with distant birds” describes the intended balance, even if you later adjust its levels. Your browser stores the sound selection and settings locally; it does not save an audio file for offline use.

In Gallery, choose a scene that offers the layers you want. Select them, set their levels, and press Start. Compare the still picture with Slow zoom if you want visual movement. Close the immersive view when you finish to clear the scene sounds.
