Pure Soundscapes guides

Plan a listening session with pause, volume, and the timer

Understand what the sleep timer does, how it interacts with saved mixes, and what to check when browser audio stops.

Set up the sound before starting a timer

Select your sounds in Playlists or play a combination from Saved. Adjust the balance using the individual sliders, then set a comfortable overall level with the speaker control. The timer becomes available when there is a selected mix. It is a playback convenience, not a promise that you will fall asleep or concentrate for a particular length of time.

The header offers 15-, 30-, and 60-minute durations. Pick a duration and use the timer’s start control. The countdown shows the remaining time. If your plans change, cancel the timer and start a new one with the duration you prefer.

Know what happens when time runs out

At the end of the countdown, the mixer pauses. The selected sounds and their individual levels stay available, so you can resume the same combination rather than rebuilding it. If you want another timed session, start the timer again after resuming. Expiry does not delete saved combinations.

Pause and Clear serve different purposes. Pause keeps the current mix, while Clear removes the active sounds, resets their levels, and cancels the timer. The timer is based on elapsed time and checks again when you return to the tab. Browsers and operating systems can still suspend a page in the background, so it is not a precise alarm or a device shutoff mechanism.

Understand the Gallery difference

The immersive Gallery control bar intentionally has no timer controls. A timer started in the mixer can continue while the scene is open. To set a different duration, return to the normal mixer controls. Closing the immersive Gallery view stops and clears its sounds and cancels a running timer.

Fullscreen changes the viewing mode; it does not create a separate audio player. The speaker control in the immersive view still controls the same overall mixer volume. Leaving browser fullscreen alone keeps the scene open, whereas the scene’s close button ends the Gallery session.

Check the browser if playback does not start

A first play may wait for the selected audio file to download. Playback requires a network connection; saving a mix stores its settings, not an offline audio copy. Browser autoplay restrictions also mean that selecting or starting a sound yourself is necessary. The site does not automatically play audio when you first arrive.

If you cannot hear a selected sound, check its individual level, the overall speaker control, your device volume, and whether the browser tab is muted. Try pausing and resuming after the download finishes. If playback is repeatedly interrupted on a phone, check whether the device is suspending the browser when the screen locks.

Choose a comfortable volume and take a break if listening becomes unpleasant. Pure Soundscapes is an ambient listening tool; it does not diagnose or treat sleep, hearing, or mental-health conditions.
